Wife and I have been in a rut when it comes to Mexican taco shop style food and wanted to try something different. We browsed our local help and found this place was just right around the corner from us so we decided to give it a shot. Boy oh boy am I glad we did.
I can say honestly it's the best taco shop I've ever been to! My wife got an order of Carnitas Nachos, and I got Adobada Fries. Both portions were absolutely gigantic. Prices are insanely good, we spent just under $24 for the 2 entrees and 2 large drinks. The salsa bar is also a complete home run, I'm very very very picky when it comes to my green salsas but this one blew me away! I cannot recommend this place highly enough. -

Talk about a hole-in-the-wall, this place is it. The verbiage on Yelp's three stars rating is A-OK, and I think that's about right. Super nice folks there and enjoyed chatting with the cook who's very passionate about his food and craft. First good thing to know, there's more to the menu than meets the eye. They have to TV screens with the menu and each one, has a page two.
There were lots of things I wanted to try but I like to try something I've never had before, and they had that option, Adobada Ribs. For $10.25 I got a plate of short ribs smothered in a deep red, thick sauce; rice, beans and warm corn tortillas. The sauce looked amazing but, didn't have much depth to it. Adding some of their red salsa kicked it up the the flavor combos nicely. The meat was super tender, a little fatty, but it went well with the doctored sauce. The rice and beans were good. Not massive portions which I'm fine with. And what's nice, they offered more tortillas which I didn't need, but nice to know.
The salsa bar has a good variety with a standard, medium spicy red salsa, a surprisingly addictive pineapple salsa, and an okay green and guacamole salsa. Funny how we all have our own tastes as a couple Yelpers put the green salsa off the charts. It was good, but I liked the reds better. And I did very much enjoy the hot carrots and onions.
I drove across town to try this place and will return to try some of their other offerings if I'm on that side of town. Oh, and it does have its own parking lot which is nice and I'm guessing AC, as they were closing up the doors when I left. Wish they would have had it on before I arrived as it was quite hot, but I just transported my mind to somewhere far down on the Baja peninsula where that's expected.

Truly phenomenal local hole-in-the-wall style Mexican place.

This is a truly exceptional little Taqueria that we stopped in at on the way to a wedding outside San Diego.
The roasted red pepper salsa might be the best salsa I have ever eaten; all of their salsas are slightly spicy and exceptionally flavorful - you can even buy them buy the pint if you want.
The guy behind the counter was super friendly and explained to us NorCal people how they didn't put beans or rice or "other fillers" in like they do back in Sacramento.
I had a mouth-watering carne asada burrito, my partner had a really good grilled chicken taco; all their stuff by default is meat+gaucamole+pico de gallo.
Prices were what you'd expect.
Only downside is it is a bit small and there's no public bathroom. -

I didn't think that a taco place with only 30 reviews would be able to uphold its 5 star rating, but wow, the food was quite good.
They make all the food to-order, so everything from the chips to the chicken was fresh.
I got the chicken tacos and Tim got a carne asada burrito. As northern Californians, we were surprised that the burritos didn't come with rice or beans, but it ended up being delicious anyways. The server was also very nice and accommodating.
Only complaints: no public restrooms, and maybe this is because they're new, but the walls were totally bare and boring. -

Stopped on for dinner and ordered the albondigas soup which came with a side of warm corn tortillas or flour. I had corn. I also ordered a side of Mexican rice to put into the soup, just like mother use to make, and a side of beans, just for kicks.
The albodigas soup was good, but I was sure happy I asked for a side a rice, because the soup needed it. The soup came with its broth, meatballs, and sliced carrot, so the rice helped fill it up with more needed ingredients. The broth was mild in flavor.
The meatballs were good and came with a little rice mixed in them. They needed a little something extra in the area of flavor. My mother use to put chop fresh mint into the meat balls and that was terrific.
The rice that came on the side was great, and the beans were quite good too. They great hot sauces and salsas. My favorite was the roasted red chili peppers and oil hot sauce. It's flavor was fantastic and offered a good heat too. I also really like the avocado salsa.
The warm tortillas I used to make tacos with the albondigas and for dipping into the soup.
